The Strategic Operations Director provides strategic and operational execution leadership to ensure high-quality, clinically sound, and cost-effective laboratory services for health system clients. This role bridges strategy and execution - driving enterprise initiatives, enabling achievement of annual goals, and ensuring consistent delivery of measurable value. The Director partners with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and client stakeholders to deliver initiatives on time, communicate effectively, and continuously improve service performance, standardization, and clinical outcomes.

**Pay Range: $100,000 - $170,000

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

Work Schedule: 1st shift

Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only. Key Responsibilities

1) Strategic & Initiative Leadership

  • Own and deliver division initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and annual priorities.
  • Establish strong initiative governance, including clear scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, and escalation paths.
  • Maintain visible progress reporting and lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and on-time delivery.
  • Drive accountability across stakeholders and teams to complete deliverables and achieve intended outcomes.

2) Operational Excellence & Execution

  • Translate complex priorities into actionable workplans that enable consistent execution across multiple client environments.
  • Anticipate challenges, remove barriers, and maintain momentum through changing conditions and competing priorities.
  • Ensure commitments are met with high-quality deliverables, clear ownership, and disciplined follow-through.

3) Data-Driven Decision Making (Analysis, Insights & Visualization)

  • Build and maintain well-structured, validated, shareable datasets to support confident decision-making.
  • Deliver actionable insights through clear visualizations, dashboards, and concise narrative summaries.
  • Present recommendations with transparent assumptions, data limitations (when applicable), and expected impact.
  • Simplify complex data outputs into executive-ready summaries that enable timely decisions.

4) Executive-Level Presentations & Stakeholder Influence

  • Develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership, clients, and key internal stakeholders.
  • Tailor messaging to audience needs (inform vs. decide), balancing clarity with appropriate technical depth.
  • Distill complex topics into key takeaways, decision points, and next steps; communicate with confidence and credibility.

5) Meeting Leadership (Facilitation & Participation)

  • Lead and facilitate meetings to drive decisions, resolve issues, and produce clear action plans.
  • Prepare thoroughly, demonstrate strong content knowledge, and guide productive discussion—not just status updates.
  • Close meetings with concise summaries of decisions, owners, timelines, and next steps.

6) Client Communication & Relationship Management

  • Build trusted client partnerships through proactive, clear, timely, and accurate communication.
  • Anticipate client questions and risks; provide complete information and reliable follow-up.
  • Translate technical/clinical topics into actionable guidance and ensure consistent, high-quality client experience.
  • Coordinate internal teams to deliver on client commitments and address emerging needs.

7) Quality Management & Attention to Detail

  • Ensure all deliverables and communications are accurate, complete, and appropriately reviewed prior to release.
  • Maintain high quality standards under tight timelines through strong planning, review, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Embed continuous improvement practices into workflows, tools, and communication routines.

8) Strategic Agility & Continuous Improvement

  • Anticipate and interpret change (market, operational, regulatory, clinical, supply chain) and adapt quickly.
  • Lead through ambiguity with sound judgment, timely decisions, and forward-looking recommendations.
  • Encourage learning and innovation across teams to improve outcomes, efficiency, and service consistency.

9) Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

  • Analyze complex issues systematically, challenge assumptions, and identify root causes.
  • Probe for missing information, inconsistencies, or risks; connect insights to strategy.
  • Provide clear recommendations with rationale, context, tradeoffs, and measurable expected impact.

Qualifications

Education/Clinical Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Healthcare Administration, Business, Clinical/Scientific discipline, or related field).
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations and clinical service environments preferred.
  • Up to 25% percent travel

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in laboratory services, clinical operations, healthcare consulting, or health system service delivery.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives, managing stakeholders, and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Experience developing executive-ready analyses and leading high-impact communications with clients and senior leaders.
  • Consulting experience would be a plus.
