Director, Engineering

The Director, Engineering will oversee the software engineering function in developing, releasing and maintaining software applications and infrastructure according to business needs. This position will act as a people and project lead for data engineering and data pipeline components.
What You'll Do
- Participates in defining strategic IT objectives and leading subordinates toward that strategic vision for their products.
- Acts as the primary focal point for both internal and external customers as to software development tasks. This includes estimates of feasibility, time and effort of tasks. Provide updates to both the user community and the programmers. Monitor projects, determines potential problems and guides them to a successful completion.
- Ensures that all work is getting accomplished by making assignments and monitoring tasks. This includes balancing work between programmers, and ensuring that the proper policies and procedures are being followed.
- Assists with budget preparation and management.
- Mentors and evaluates staff performance. - Continues to work hands-on doing programming and analysis work themselves.
- Tracks all project requests in functional area and updates status of projects on a regular basis.
- Assists in estimating work effort associated with new project requests.
- Assists in planning for the development and support of a functional systems area.
- Reviews and evaluates work of subordinate staff and prepares performance reports.
- Participates in planning and budgeting.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 5+ years designing and developing high performance applications leveraging established software development patterns. Experience managing and leading development teams in multiple time-zones is preferred. Strong experience in Python, AWS, and data engineering.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize appropriately, and maintain standards when it comes to attention to detail. Ability to solve complex problems, uncover root issues and provide guidance on remediation.
Total Rewards
The salary estimated for this position is $160,000-200,000 per year. Compensation will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
